Is it safe to have aesthetic treatments?
Yes! When carried out by a qualified, insured medical professional, aesthetic treatments are very safe. All treatments at KPS Aesthetics are performed by a fully qualified, registered nurse using medical-grade products, with a thorough consultation, full medical history check, and appropriate aftercare guidance for every client. We're fully insured and follow strict clinical and hygiene protocols at every appointment. I've completed advanced specialist training at Derma Medical and Derma Institute, covering anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, skin boosters, polynucleotides, and microneedling.
Are you medically qualified?
Yes. I'm a registered nurse with extensive clinical experience, and I'm an Independent Prescriber, which means I'm qualified to prescribe and administer treatments safely and legally, including managing any medical complications should they arise. I've completed advanced specialist training in anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, skin boosters, polynucleotides, and microneedling.
Do I need a consultation before booking a treatment?
Yes — a consultation is required before any treatment. This ensures the treatment is right for you, that it's safe based on your medical history, and that we agree on realistic, natural-looking results together before proceeding.
What happens during a consultation?
During your consultation, we'll discuss what you'd like to achieve, review your full medical history, and I'll assess your skin and facial anatomy to recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you. You'll have the chance to ask any questions, and there's no obligation to book treatment on the day — it's about making sure you feel fully informed and comfortable before moving forward.
How long does anti-wrinkle treatment take to work?
You'll usually start to see results within 3-5 days, with the full effect visible at around 2 weeks. This is why a follow-up review appointment is included, so we can check your results and make any small adjustments if needed.
How long do results last?
Anti-wrinkle treatment typically lasts 3-4 months, though this varies from person to person depending on factors like muscle strength and metabolism. Many clients find that with regular treatment, results tend to last a little longer over time.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe it as a brief scratch or slight pinch rather than something painful. A very fine needle is used, and the treatment itself only takes a few minutes. Numbing cream can be used if you're particularly nervous or sensitive to discomfort.
Will I look "frozen" or unnatural?
No — the goal is always soft, natural-looking results that simply smooth and relax the treated area while allowing normal facial expression. Dosing is carefully tailored to you during your consultation, so you'll still look like yourself, just more refreshed.
What's the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles (like frown lines or crow's feet), while dermal filler adds volume and structure to areas that have lost fullness, such as lips, cheeks, or nasolabial folds. They target different concerns and are often used together for a balanced result.
Can filler be dissolved if I don't like the result?
Yes — dermal filler can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This is something we'd discuss at consultation, and any dissolving treatment would only be carried out after a proper assessment.
What is microneedling and what does it treat?
Microneedling uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating your body's natural collagen and elastin production. It's effective for improving skin texture, fine lines, acne scarring, enlarged pores, and overall skin tone and radiance. It can also be combined with skin boosters or polynucleotides to enhance results.
How do I prepare for microneedling?
In the 3-5 days before your microneedling treatment, stop using retinoids/retinol, vitamin C, and other active skincare ingredients, as these can increase skin sensitivity and irritation during treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure and always wear SPF in the lead-up to your appointment. Afterwards, continue to avoid retinoids and vitamin C for around 3-5 days, and keep using SPF daily, as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun during healing.
What are polynucleotides and what do they do?
Polynucleotides are a regenerative treatment derived from purified DNA fragments, injected into the skin to stimulate repair, boost collagen production, and improve skin quality from within. They're particularly good for improving skin elasticity, hydration, and firmness, and are often used to treat areas of thinner, more fragile skin such as under the eyes.
Is there any downtime?
Most treatments at KPS Aesthetics have little to no downtime, so you can usually return to normal activities the same day. You may experience some mild redness, swelling, or small bruising at the injection sites, which typically settles within a few hours to a couple of days depending on the treatment.
What should I do/avoid before and after treatment?
Before treatment, it's best to avoid alcohol, blood-thinning medication (where medically appropriate), and intense exercise for 24 hours beforehand, as these can increase the risk of bruising. Afterwards, avoid touching or applying makeup to the treated area for several hours, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and sunbeds for 24-48 hours, and avoid lying flat or applying pressure to the treated area (for anti-wrinkle injections) for the first few hours. Full aftercare advice specific to your treatment will be given at your appointment
Are there any side effects?
As with any injectable treatment, mild and temporary side effects can occur, such as redness, swelling, tenderness, or small bruises at the injection site. These usually resolve within a few days. Rarer side effects will be discussed with you fully during your consultation, along with how they're managed, so you feel confident and informed before proceeding.
